Tuggeranong Community Health Centre temporary relocation

From Tuesday, 29 January 2013 until mid 2014, most of the services offered from the Tuggeranong Community Health Centre will relocate to Greenway Waters Suites while the existing facility is expanded and refurbished.

Gungahlin Community Health Centre Now Open

The new Gungahlin Community Health Centre, located in the Gungahlin Town Centre, has been completed.

Centenary Hospital for Women and Children

Construction of Stage One of the Centenary Hospital for Women and Children, on the Canberra Hospital campus, has been completed.

Plans for Ngunnawal Bush Healing Farm

The Ngunnawal Bush Healing Farm, located on a working farm on the outskirts of Canberra, west of Tharwa, will offer holistic care for ACT Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples requiring alcohol and other drug rehabilitation. The farm will focus on cultural healing - reconnecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to land and culture.

Plans for the new facility have been released by ACT Chief Minister and Minister for Health, Katy Gallagher MLA, who has called for community feedback over the next six weeks.

Planning for Canberra Hospital's Energy Sustainability

The ACT Government has closed community consultation on the possible future energy scenarios at Canberra Hospital.

To plan for the future, the Health Directorate undertook a feasibility study to determine the hospitals energy requirements in the years to come. This study also looked at possible scenarios to make the hospital more energy efficient.

Clinical Services Plan

The Health Directorate is currently developing the Clinical Services Plan (CSP) 2012-2017. The CSP is the Directorates main strategic services planning document.

The plan will provide a strategic framework for the delivery of clinical services between 2012 and 2017 and guide more detailed planning.

New Adult Mental Health Unit at Canberra Hospital - NOW OPEN

The new Adult Mental Health Unit has been designed to create an environment that provides people with hope, choice, privacy and personal space. The building has been designed to incorporate good environmental practice. The unit has in-floor heating and cooling. There is extensive use of double glazing which will maximise the use of natural light.

Canberra Hospital Energy Sustainability - Community Consultation

Given the redevelopment of Canberra Hospital and future energy requirements for healthcare services, consideration is being given to improving energy efficiency through design, ways to generate power on site and expanding the existing data centre.
As part of this study, the Health Directorate is looking for input from the community about any values, concerns in relation to future energy planning for the hospital.

Changes to Canberra Hospital pedestrian access pave the way for new cancer centre

Health Directorate has alerted the ACT community to changes to pedestrian access at Canberra Hospital due to construction on the new Capital Region Cancer Centre starting on 21 November 2011.

Once the construction site is established, changes to pedestrian access to and from the new multi-level Southern Car Park will ensure staff, patients and visitors are directed around the construction site in a safe manner.

Plans unveiled for new Capital Region Cancer Centre

The new $44.6million Capital Region Cancer Centre (CRCC), jointly funded by the Federal and ACT governments, will improve cancer treatment by integrating services, including chemotherapy, radiation therapy, immunology, haematology and research and teaching programs within a single five-storey building on the Canberra Hospital campus.

Plans for the new centre have been released by ACT Chief Minister and Minister for Health, Katy Gallagher MLA, who has called for community feedback over the next four weeks.

Plans released for new Gungahlin, Belconnen and Tuggeranong community health centres

Community health centres in the ACT provide a range of health services for all ages, including counselling, screening, treatment, therapy, community support, education, and group programs.

The preliminary sketch plans for the new community health centres at Gungahlin, Belconnen and Tuggeranong have been released. ACT Health would like to invite interested members of the community to view the plans and provide feedback.

Preliminary sketch plans for new Womens and Childrens Hospital

The ACT's new Women's and Children's Hospital has taken another major step forward with the announcement of the construction Project Manager and the unveiling of the preliminary sketch plans by ACT Minister for Health, Katy Gallagher MLA.

The new three-storey hospital will be constructed by Leighton Contractors and will provide 146 beds; an increased number of ambulatory care (outpatient) consult rooms; clinical office space; education and training facilities; and family accommodation. It will also incorporate a play ground, caf and landscaped spaces.
