Emergency Dental

Emergency dental services are available Monday to Friday to all eligible clients of Community Health's dental health services who require urgent dental treatment.

Who can use this service?

  • Children under 14 years old who attend a school or reside in the ACT
  • ACT residents, aged 14 to 17, who hold a Centrelink Concession Card
  • ACT residents, aged 18 and over, who are primary card holders (name appears on top of the concession card)
  • Interstate Centrelink Concession Card holders and children under 14 who are visiting the ACT for a short period and who are triaged as an E or P1

Cost

Adults - There is a minimum charge of $42.00 for an emergency visit, and payment is required at the time of the visit. Additional fees may apply if the dentist provides more treatment to relieve the immediate problem. Fees can be paid by cash, eftpos, credit card or cheque.

Children - A fee may apply to Children under 14 years of age who are not currently under care at a Child and Youth Dental Clinic.

Free - For children under 18 years of age, covered by a current Centrelink Concession Card.

For urgent dental treatment, phone: (02) 62079977. You do not need to come in to a clinic in person. All clients will be assessed over the phone and those with the most urgent problems will be offered an appointment. Clients with non-urgent dental needs will be placed on a waiting list.

Emergency Dental services are provided Monday to Friday (except public holidays). A Saturday morning emergency clinic is available at the Phillip Dental Clinic only.

 

Child and Youth Dental

The service provides children and young people with the following dental services:

  • Comprehensive assessment;
  • Oral health plans based on individuals' needs;
  • General preventative and restorative treatment;
  • Emergency treatment.

Dental treatments such as orthodontic appliances and dentures are available to children and young people who are covered by a current Centrelink Concession Card, these services will incur a separate charge.

Who can use this service?

  • All children under 5 who live in the ACT;
  • All children 5 years to under 14 years of age who live or attend school in the ACT;
  • Young people living or attending school in the ACT under the age of 18 years who are covered by a current Centelink Concession Card.

Cost

  • Children 5 years to under 14 years of age - $62.00 per child per "Course of Care"
  • Children under 5 years (who require treatment) - $62.00 per child per "Course of Care"

Adult Dental

We provide a range of dental treatment including:

  • General restorative dental services such as teeth cleaning, fillings and general check ups - there is a waiting list for this type of dental service. To register your name on the waiting list, call (02) 6207 9977.

  • Emergency dental services. Please see 'Emergency Dental' above for further information.

Who can use this service?

All ACT residents aged 18 and over who are a primary holder of a current ACT Centrelink issued Pension Concession or Healthcare card.

Cost

There is a maximum co-payment* of $300 for restorative treatment in any year.

*Excludes molar endodontics, general anaesthetic and dentures.

Denture Services

We provide a range of denture services including denture repairs, denture relines, adjustments and the making of both partial and complete new dentures.

A waitlist applies for new dentures and denture repairs are handled in the same way as emergency sessions.

Who can use this service?

All ACT residents aged 18 and over who hold a Centrelink Concession Card, such as a Healthcare Card or Pension Concession Card.

Cost

There is a minimum charge of $41.00 for course of treatment. There is no annual cap and denture client contributions are not included in the $300 restorative treatment cap.
