Urgent assistance for people who have a mental health concern

A 24 hour service for people who have a significant mental health concern and find themselves in a critical situation that requires urgent assistance.

Services provided

  • Urgent intervention, assessment and short-term management of people of all ages who are experiencing mental health problems and
  • Information and advice regarding mental health services
  • Referral to both government and non-government mental health and other services
  • Intake for ACT government mental health services

Who can use this service?

Any person in the ACT (residing or visiting) with a mental health concern.

This service is free to Medicare and Asylum Seeker card holders.

 

Counselling and mental health consultation and treatment for children up to the age of 18 years

Services provided

  • Mental health assessment, therapeutic interventions and clinical management for children and young people up to the age of 18 who are experiencing moderate to severe mental health difficulties.
  • Specialist child mental health services for children up to the age of 18 years, who either have been diagnosed with – or show signs of – depression or anxiety, including:

o   Consultation including regular counselling sessions with the child, as well as with their family and parents

o   Management of mental health conditions through medication if required

o   Children with moderate to severe mental health presentations will be provided with family therapy, group based therapy and individual therapy.

Who can use this service?

ACT children up to the age of 18 years.
