ACT Pathology Collection centres

For the convenience of patients, ACT Pathology has six licensed collection centres throughout Canberra.

Our centres are staffed by experienced Registered Nurses and Technical Officers who have been extensively trained in blood collection techniques for adults, newborns and children.

Appointments

All centres operate on a drop-in basis. The exceptions to this rule are the following tests that do require an appointment:

  • Glucose Tolerance Test (GTT)
  • Insulin Resistance Test / HOMA Index
  • Sweat test - this test is only performed at Canberra Hospital.
  • ECG Service

When presenting to an ACT Pathology collection centre patients must bring a pathology request form from their treating practitioner. Patients should also bring their Medicare card to enable bulk-billing.

ECG Service

ACT Pathology performs ECGs at the following collection centres:

Appointments are required for ECGs and are made from mid-morning onwards.

Holter Monitors

Holter Monitors (ambulatory ECG recordings) can be arranged by appointment at our Calvary Hospital collection centre.

Fine Needle Aspiration

A Fine Needle Aspiration service is available at The Canberra Hospital collection centre, by appointment.
