Canberra Hospital Intensive Care Unit is a 31-bed unit that cares for people who require highly specialised one-to-one treatment.
About this service
Our unit includes adult and paediatric intensive care and high dependency beds. We have dedicated cardiothoracic and paediatric bays and four fully vented positive/negative pressure isolation rooms. We admit over 2500 patients a year.
We typically care for people after they undergo major surgery, following an accident or while suffering a serious illness.
We are a tertiary ICU, which means we can provide comprehensive critical care including complex life support. We are accredited by the College of Intensive Care Medicine and care for a broad mix of critically ill patients.
We also have an Intensive Care Unit at North Canberra Hospital.
