Newborn and Parent Support Service

Newborn Parent Support Service

The Newborn and Parent Support Service (NAPSS) provides a discharge program for the Centre for Newborn Care (CNC). The service supports families of infants who no longer require intensive medical treatment but require nursing support and advice at home.

The NAPSS team comprises Nurses and Midwifes who have extensive experience in caring for sick and premature infants. They support parents with infant care until care can be met by community services.

A multidisciplinary team incorporates neonatal Nurses and Midwives, Clinical Nurse Co-odinators, Neonatologists, Paediatricians, Physiotherapists, Social Workers and other health professionals. The types of care provided include but are not limited to:

  • Early discharge planning
  • 4 x 4 feeding program
  • Home oxygen monitoring
