ACT Government releases Eating Disorder Position Statement

This week, the ACT Government and the Minister for Mental Health are proud to present the ACT Eating Disorders Position Statement. This Position Statement forms the basis of the ACT Government’s response to community calls, which included a petition presented to the Legislative Assembly of the ACT, for increased eating disorder services in the ACT.

Culture Review Submissions

The Independent Review into the Workplace Culture within ACT Public Health Services (the Review) is now seeking submissions on the workplace culture of public health care services in the ACT including the Canberra Hospital, Calvary Public Hospital, Health Directorate and Canberra Health Services. Submissions are open from Monday 15 October to 30 November 2018.

Canberrans who wheeze or sneeze in Spring are encouraged to see their GP ahead of pollen season

At the beginning of the 2018 pollen season, Canberrans are being reminded to speak to their GP about asthma and hay fever management. People with asthma and hay fever and those who wheeze or sneeze in Spring should see their GP to make sure their asthma and hay fever management plan is in place.

Warning to Canberrans about potentially dangerous weight-loss products

ACT Health is warning Canberrans to be aware of potentially dangerous weight-loss products being marketed to the fitness and bodybuilding communities. These products, known as ‘shredders’, may contain the highly toxic chemical 2.4-dinitrophenol, also known as DNP. This warning mirrors advice provided by NSW Health about the dangers of these products.
