Consultation Liaison Services

Consultation Liaison Service provides assessment, support and referral for clients who have been admitted to Canberra Hospital who also have an alcohol and/or drug issues.

Consultation Liaison incorporates a Co-morbidity Service. It provides a variety of services to clients who have a mental health condition and who also have an alcohol and/or other drug issue.

This service works in cooperation with doctors, nurses and staff at Canberra Hospital to assist clients on their road to recovery.

What we do

This Service provides:

  • Co-morbidity Service
  • IMPACT Program (Integrated Multi-agencies for Parents and Children Together)
  • PEP (Pregnancy Enhancement Program)
  • Health promotion and harm minimisation education
  • Withdrawal Management
  • Staff Specialists
  • Referral for ongoing care after discharge
  • Information and referral for family members and carers
  • Through and After-Care for pregnant clients at the Alexander Maconochie Centre

Co-morbidity service

This service provides:

  • Assessment, referral and support of individuals who have a mental health condition and also have an alcohol and/or other drug issue
  • Mental health support clinic held at Althea Wellness Clinic every second Friday
  • Health promotion and harm minimisation education
  • Clients can be self-referred or referred via the OTS Clinic, Staff Specialists or Consultation Liaison Service

Drug and alcohol education

The Alcohol and Drug Service is able to provide comprehensive drug and alcohol education and health promotion services.

This service is available to organisations including State and Federal Government agencies, non Government organisations and the general public.

  • Alcohol and drug education programs tailored to suit an organisation's needs
  • Professional presentations by experienced and highly qualified alcohol and drug staff
  • Up to date and accurate alcohol and drug information
  • A variety of supplementary written and visual material
  • Own equipment to facilitate an education session
