Inpatients

It is the Hospital's priority that you are comfortable when you stay here. Medications and medical procedures may be scheduled for you at particular times, so its important you let hospital staff know whenever you intend to leave your ward.

Cleaning takes place on each ward and may be noisy. For cleaning times in wards, please check with nursing staff.

Patients may also be required to undergo intra-hospital transfers for medical reasons. This means you may be transferred to other beds or locations throughout the Hospital. Your cooperation is appreciated.

Single rooms

Single room accommodation is limited and allocation is based on clinical need. It is not based on whether you are privately insured or not. However, the Hospital will endeavour to meet your request for a single room if your private insurance is adequate and if a room is available.

Radio and television

Patient TV hire is available at many beds in the Canberra Hospital. This service is provided by Hospital Television Rentals and specific conditions and charges apply.

In most cases a representative of Hospital Television Rentals will visit the ward to arrange TV services. However, patients and or visitors can complete the request form and have this deposited in the box supplied at the nurses' station.

Conditions of hire are detailed in the brochure provided by Hospital Television Services. There are daily, weekly and monthly rates available. There are daily, weekly and monthly rates available. Discount rates are available to Healthcare card holders.

Details of current rates can be found on the request form. Use of the hospital information, education and radio channels, where available on the TV system are free of charge. Payment can be made by cheque and bankcard/ Mastercard/ Visa/ Amex.
