Canberra Hospital has a dedicated Veterans Liaison Officer to assist Veterans, Ex-servicemen and women, War Widows and their families when they come to the Hospital.
While you're a patient with us, the Officer can help you with a wide range of specialist services, and can liaise with the Department of Veterans Affairs if needed.
The Veterans lounge is for your exclusive use, whether you use it as a change from your hospital bed or to visit with family and friends.
For your comfort and enjoyment, the lounge offers:
- A television and video system
- A selection of daily newspapers and a small library
- A phone, for local calls
- A computer, with access to the Internet; and
- Tea and coffee making facilities.
The lounge is wheelchair accessible and is located at the front door to the Hospital's Main Foyer and adjacent to the Emergency Department and Ambulance Bay.
The Veterans Liaison Officer and lounge hours are: Monday to Friday, 8.30am - 5pm.
If you would like more information about the exclusive services that The Canberra Hospital offers to the veteran community, please call our Veterans' Liaison Officer on (02) 6244 3696.
The Veterans Lounge is supported by many sections of the ex-service community and organisations, through donations and hospital visiting programs.
