About us

Rheumatology Unit in Canberra has a long and productive history having started in 1976 with the appointment of Dr Andrew Brook. It has steadily grown since then and is currently staffed by 4 rheumatologists including Clinical A/Professor Kathleen Tymms, Dr Anna Dorai Raj, Dr Ted Tsai and Dr Chandi Perera, the director of the unit.

The department has a strong focus on clinical service delivery, supporting rheumatology patients within the ACT and surrounding regional areas, undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and research activities with links to the John Curtin School of Medical Research and the ANU Medical School.

It is supported by an advanced trainee registrar, JMO, a biologics and research coordinating clinical nurse specialist and unit secretary.
