A 20 bed unit provides acute and sub-acute care services for people with a mental illness. Calvary Hospital also provides a range of inpatient, assessment, hospital consultation and outpatient services.

Hyson Green

Private medical unit that provides inpatient and day patient services. Runs programs for overcoming depression, managing anxiety, relapse prevention, eating disorders, post natal depression and post traumatic stress disorders. Fees apply.

Provides supported accommodation for up to 20 people with varying mental health needs as well as rehabilitation, extended care, respite care and subacute facilities for residents.

Secure Extended Care unit

On the grounds of Brian Hennessy Rehabilitation Centre there is an appropriate secure indoor and outdoor facility with 10 beds so that consumers can be catered for in small groups according to their particular needs. Consumers are able to circulate freely within the area with unobtrusive environmental boundaries but with appropriate safety provisions.

Queen Elizabeth II Family Centre

QEII provides post-natal care of mothers and babies needing medical care or help with feeding and management including parenting education and post-natal support group with 24 hour telephone support.

QEII Residential Care Unit provides inpatient care which is treated according to the level of need. Non-inpatient services incude psychologist sessions and an Outreach Program. Nursing, Social Work and Psychiatry services are in the day stay clinic.

Richmond Fellowship

Accommodation and support to 10 people with a mental illness with the aims of encouraging people to live independently of the service within 18 months at which stage they will be required to leave the accommodation.

Accommodation for an additional 10 mentally ill people in need of long-term support. Clients are case managed and regularly reviewed for their ability to move towards independent living. Clients who no longer require support are able to stay in the accommodation provided.

Support with everyday living, where clinical support is provided by Mental Health ACT.

Inanna

Provides accommodation for women with or without children who are experiencing crisis and has a specific program for women who suffer past or present mental illness. Clients at Inanna usually stay for a maximum of 3 months although this can be extended if other accommodation options are not available.

Centacare
Can provide accommodation and support for ten people with a mental illness with medium to high support needs. Centacare mostly provides long-term residential support although transitional support is available. Clients have access to support workers during the day and out of hours on call support in a crisis. Whilst Mental Health ACT provide clinical support, the emphasis is on assisting clients to live independently in the accommodation.

Barnardos

Provide respite care for children with a mental illness or children whose parents have a mental illness.

Barnardos Childrens Family Centre in Canberra has been operating for over 35 years and offers family support, substitute care and supported accommodation services for disadvantaged children, adolescents and their families in the ACT and surrounding areas.

Runs the Friendship House Project providing accommodation for seven people plus respite care for people with a mental illness, supports people in Friendship House and in their own accommodation and also runs Warren I’Anson Respite House.

Monaro Crisis Accommodation Service Inc

A generalist SAAP service who do not normally accept referrals with mental health issues, although they will accept clients with case managed mental health issues. Offers short term supported accommodation, information, advocacy and referrals to people in crisis due to homelessness, domestic violence, sexual assault etc. Cooma-Monaro region. A generalist SAAP service who do not normally accept referrals with mental health issues, although they will accept clients with case managed mental health issues. Individuals over 16 years, not under the influence of drugs or alcohol. No violence policy. Minimal board charged, fees are negotiable.

Outreach House

Medium to long term residential program for young people (aged thirteen to seventeen years) who have psychological or behavioural disturbances and are currently unable to live at home.
