Plastic surgery

Canberra Hospital provides a range of specialist outpatient services within the Central Outpatients Department.

Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery includes the repair of damaged tissues as well as the treatment of major tissue loss (often associated with orthopaedic injuries).  Hand surgery includes re-plantation, repair of facial injuries, repair to sections of the skin, loss of tissue through intra-oral and head and neck cancers, reconstructive breast surgery, cranio-facial surgery, pressure sores and general reconstructive surgery.

In order to obtain an appointment with one of our Plastic  Surgeons, you will be required to obtain a referral from your General Practitioner or Specialist.  This referral should contain information that is relevant to your current condition as well as including any information from your health history that may impact on your current condition.

Plastic Surgery also offers access to the Registrar Review clinic.  This clinic provides access to patients who require urgent review by an Plastics Registrar.  Patients can be referred to this service, once their treating medical officer has made contact with the Plastic Surgery Registrar to discuss the clinical condition of the patient.  To refer a patient to this service, please have your treating medical officer make contact with the Plastic Surgery Registrar through the Hospital Switchboard on (02) 624 42222.
