The Audiometry Nurse Service is for children over 18 months to 18 years of age. The Audiometry Nurse Service provides a full hearing assessment that includes; the child’s hearing health history, inspection of the ear canal and ear drum (otoscopy), assessment of middle ear function (tympanometry) and a hearing assessment (audiometry).
An appointment can be made by calling Community Health Intake on (02) 6207 9977 between 8am to 5pm Monday to Friday, 8am to 3:30pm Wednesdays (excluding public holidays).
Referral can be made by a health professional such as Maternal and Child Health Nurses, Family Doctor, Speech Pathologist, School Counsellor and Special Education Teacher or the child's parent/guardian can make a self referral.
The service is free to Medicare and Asylum Seeker cardholders.
Are there any special needs prior to consultation?
Children can be seen if they have mild ‘cold’ symptoms, however if your child is very unwell with fever or influenza please book an appointment for at least 6 weeks time.
Please organise baby-sitting or childcare for young sibling/s of the child having the hearing assessment.
What do I need to bring?
Any referral letter, previous hearing report/s and the child's Personal Health Record (blue book).
