Additional Pregnancy Sessions

Additional pregnancy sessions are run on a regular basis.

Types of sessions include multiples (twins or more), Caesarean, next birth after Caesarean, parents with special needs and women with culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.

Multiples Session

An information session, including discussion with a midwife in Birthing Suite, for women with a twin (or more) pregnancy. This session covers the options and recommendations for women planning to birth at the Centenary Hospital for Women and Children.

Caesarean Birth Session

A group session with a midwife, to discuss Caesarean childbirth at the Centenary Hospital for Women and Children. Women who need to have a planned caesarean are able to discuss any issues of concern with the midwife.

NBAC (Next Birth After Caesarean) Session

A session with a midwife to discuss women's options and concerns related to a NBAC.

Special Needs

Individual classes are offered to any women with a special need.

Programs for women with culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds

Individual sessions are available to women with culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds. An interpreter will be provided when necessary.

Individual discussion

Individual appointments can be made to discuss any issues concerning this (or a previous) pregnancy.

Refresher Series - Tuesdays once a month from 9.30am - 1.30pm

These two combined sessions, conducted by a physiotherapist and a midwife are for women who have already experieinced birth, and also for women who may have birthed elsewhere prior to this pregancy.

Multiples Session - Tuesday every six weeks

An information sessions that includes discussion with a midwife for women with a multiple pregnancy. The session covers the options and recommendations for women planning to birth at the centenary hospital for Women and Children.

Caesarian Birth Sessions - Tuesday every six weeks

A group session with a midwife to discuss Caeasarian childbirth. Women who need to have a planned caesarian are able to discuss any issues of concern to them.

NBAC (Next Birth After Caesarian) Sessions - Thursday once a month

A session with an obstetrician and a midwife to discuss women's options and concerns related to a previous Caesarian Section and the implications for this pregnancy and birth.

Special needs

Individual classes are offered to any women with a special need, for example young mums or the physically disadvantaged.

Programs for women with a non-English speaking background

CALD: Antenatal Care and Childbirth Education are offered to women with cultural and linguistically diverse backgronds. An interpreter will be provided when necessary.

Individual discussion

Individual appointments can be made to discuss any issues concerning this (or a previous) pregnancy. Special needs sessions are organised on a needs basis.
