From 36 weeks you will see your health care provider every fortnight until your due date.

A routine vaginal swab will be offered at your 36 week visit to check for the presence of Streptococcus B bacteria. If present this can be treated with antibiotics during labour. This may help prevent your baby becoming affected by the bacteria.

It is common for pregnancies to extend to 42 weeks. From 41 weeks there are options available to you. These may include induction of labour, or waiting to go into spontaneous labour until 42 weeks. This decision will be made in consultation with your maternity carers.
