The Department of Neonatology provides an environment that contributes positively to the personal development of all staff. We co-ordinate a range of in-house programs on topics of interest to neonatal health professionals working within the Centre.
ACT Health also offers many courses through the Staff Development Unit that are accessible via the training management system, Capabiliti.

Foundation Program in Neonatal Nursing

Clinical Development Nurses will support  staff  with new skill acquisition

In 2012, The Department of Neonatology commenced the Introduction to Neonatal Nursing Course. The course is aimed at transitioning new university graduates, who have a particular interest in neonatal care, to working in the NICU and SCN.

The course is available to graduate nurses who have been offered employment through the ACT Health graduate Transition to Practice program.
Four positions are available each year and new Registered Nurses will be supported by the Clinical Support Nurse and Clinical Development Nurses.

Graduate Certificate in Neonatal Intensive Care Nursing

The Department of Neonatology offers a Post Graduate Certificate in Neonatal Intensive Care Nursing through the Australian Catholic University and ACT Health.
The course runs annually and scholarships are available.
