Clinical education and training for Allied Health; Students, Professionals and Assistants is a significant part of ACT Government Health Directorate's core business, undertaken in partnership with the tertiary and vocational sector.
ACT Government Health Directorate has introduced a number of exciting initiatives that aim to provide additional support to Allied Health educators and managers, whilst developing strategies for improving the cohesive management of clinical placements.

Clinical Education Reference Group For Allied Health
The Clinical Education Reference Group for Allied Health (CERGAH) is a forum to provide strategic direction, that facilitates high quality clinical education for Allied Health across the Health Portfolio.
CERGAH meets bi-monthly and reports through the Office Allied Health Advisor.

This supportive network meets monthly to share knowledge and challenges, learn about new clinical education directions and improve Allied Health education outcomes across Health.
The network is open to all ACT Government, Health Directorate and Calvary Public Hospital Allied Health professionals who are involved in student and or staff education.

2. Graduate Certificate In Tertiary Education - Allied Health and Nursing/Midwifery Workforce Development Initiative.
The University of Canberra and ACT Government Health Directorate provide a colalborative program to suport allied health and nursing and midwifery staff to undertake the Graduate Certificate in Tertiary Education.
Applications for the 2013 academic year are now open and close Friday 23rd November 2012.

4. Allied Health Clinical Educators: Effective And Efficient Database Searching
This course aims to provide ACT Government Health Directorate Clinical Educators with:
- An update of library e-resources
- Efficient and effective data-base searching skills

Allied Health Clinical Education Placements in ACT Health: Discussion Paper
This project was initiated by the Allied Health Advisor to examine Clinical Education issues in the ACT. The discussion paper is intended to provide a starting point for discussion on the current status of clinical placements within the ACT Government allied health sector. It will provide direction to inform future workforce planning.
The aims of the project were to:
- explore the national and international literature around clinical placement of allied health students
- document and map current ACT Health Clinical Placement activity
- Identify clinical placement models, student numbers, funding, themes, problems and successful solutions to date.
