As part of a teaching organisation, the Podiatry Department plays an active role in the development of students. The Department has a significant commitment toward the clinical education of students completing their Bachelor of Health Science Podiatry at La trobe, Charles Sturt, South Australia and Newcastle Universities. Students on placement with ACT Health can work in both the hospital high risk clinc and community health centres. Students are rostered with podiatrists in the community and the hospital were the opportuntiy to participate in general treatments, wound management, health promotion, assessments; neurological, vascular and biomechanical, nail surgery and orthotic pathways are available. Every effort is made to address the educational objectives of the university and where appropriate, particular student interests.
We encourage students to assist with research projects being undertaken by the departments and to attend professional development/educational activities. Where appropriate, students may be given a project to complete during their placement and are supported in this by supervising staff.
