GP Aged Day Service (GPADS)

The GP Aged Day Service (GPADS) provides an in-hours locum to support people who are homebound or in residential aged care facilities when their regular GP is unable to make a house call.

The service aims to support ACT GPs by providing care to frail or aged patients who need prompt attention and might otherwise have ended up in hospital.

About GPADS

GPADS operates from Monday to Friday, 8am–6pm (excluding public holidays).

The service is provided by qualified GPs holding Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners.

Who can use this service?

This service is for:

  • ACT residents who are housebound or in a residential aged care facility who require acute assessment
  • episodic care, with patients being handed back to their usual general practice after the isolated episode

Referrals

Referral into the service is via the patient’s usual ACT GP or delegated health professional.
