Registrar Review Clinic

x-ray of footThe Registrar Review Clinic provides semi urgent review of patients by a Plastics or Orthopedic Registrar. Patients can be referred by a medical officer who has spoken to the Plastics or Orthopedic Registrar and they have agreed to see them in the clinic.

To refer a patient please call Canberra Hospital Switch on (02) 6244 2222 and ask for the appropriate registrar to be paged. Once the patient has been accepted to the clinic, fax a written referral to the clinic on 6244 4107 and the nurses will contact the patient and schedule them an appointment.

Please include in your referral:

  • Patients contact details
  • The name of the Registrar you spoke to
  • Relevant medical history
  • Details of your examination
  • Please ensure the patient brings along the necessary x-rays or scans


  • Vomiting patients
  • Incontinent patients or those with toileting issues
  • Patients with confirmed MRSA, VRE or other multi resistant organisms
  • Haemodynamically unstable patients
  • Mental health related presentations
  • Behaviorally disturbed patients
  • Non-ambulant patients
  • Patients with an unclear diagnosis
  • Patients that are not self caring without a suitable carer present
  • Patients who are being transferred to The Canberra Hospital for a definite admission
