Bronchiolitis

Bronchiolitis is a viral lower respiratory tract infection that produces small airway obstruction and air trapping. It begins like a common cold, however soon develops into a cough, rapid breathing and expiratory wheezing. The child may develop feeding difficulties due to increased respiratory effort.

Bronchiolitis is characterized by expiratory wheezing as the bronchioles become obstructed due to inflammation.
