Low Risk Research

The Low Risk Sub-Committee (LRSC) provides an expedited review process for research that meets the National Statement definition of low and negligible risk (see National Statement Chapter 2).

The LRSC meets fortnightly, or as required, and reports to the ACT Health Human Research Ethics Committee (HREC). Membership of the LRSC is made up of three HREC or former members; the HREC Chair, one medical researcher and one social science researcher.

Low Risk applications may be made at any time and should be sent electronically to the Research Ethics and Governance Office. Please ensure the application is appropriately signed then, scan and email to ethics@act.gov.au

Please note that Low Risk Research proposals that are to be considered under the National Mutual Acceptance (NMA) Scheme must be submitted using the NEAF application and must be reviewed by a full HREC

​LRSC Meeting Dates

Due to availability of members there are no set meeting dates for the LRSC .The Low Risk Ethics Committee meets approximately every two weeks.

Once received submissions will be allocated to the next available meeting. Applicants will receive an acknowledgement email which will provide the meeting date the application will be reviewed and the Low Risk Ethics Reference number allocated to your application.
