An ACT Government Website

The Primary Care Pilot is a federally funded health initiative that aims to reduce pressure on Emergency Departments (ED).

The ACT Government is using this funding to trial an innovative model designed to:

  • optimise wellbeing in the community
  • reduce pressure on ACT emergency departments and public hospitals.

The primary care pilot model aims to strengthen partnerships between primary care, community-based care, and the public health system to assist people who are at risk of going to ED or hospital.

The pilot's focus is diversion and prevention. Support for optimising wellbeing will be achieved by connecting people to community, social and other services.

The pilot will operate from October 2023 for approximately 18 months.
