    Attitude to tanning, ACT Secondary Students aged 12-17 years, by sex, 1996-2017

     

    Since 1996, the proportion of secondary students surveyed reporting that they like to get a suntan has significantly declined from 77.2% to 50.6% in 2017. 

    Between 1996 and 2017, the proportion of male students reporting that they like to get a suntan has significantly decreased from 72.0% to 45.1%, respectively. Similarly, the proportion of female students reporting that they like to get a suntan has also significantly decreased over the same period (1996: 82.4%; 2017: 56.4%).

    Please note that this indicator was updated in 2022 and replaces all previous versions. 

    For the purpose of reporting the Australian Secondary Students' Alcohol and Drug survey data on HealthStats, if the 95% confidence intervals of the estimates do not overlap, they are considered to be significantly different.
