ASSAD - Alcohol use, last year, by sex

In 2017, 41.1% of secondary students surveyed reported having consumed alcohol in the year preceding the survey. Alcohol use becomes more common with increasing age (p for trend <0.0001), with 81.7% of 17 year-olds having consumed alcohol in the year preceding the survey compared to 34.8% of 12-year-olds. Males (42.8%) were no more likely than females (39.3%) to have consumed alcohol in the past year (p=0.732).
