In 2017, 68.7% of secondary students surveyed reported getting sunburnt at least once over the previous summer, with no significant difference between males (65.6%) and females (72.9%) (p=0.237).
The proportion of students reporting getting sunburnt at least once over the previous summer has decreased significantly over time, from 77.8% in 1999 to 68.7% in 2017 (p=0.015), with the proportion of males significantly decreasing (p=0.039) from 77.9% to 65.6%, respectively. However, over the same period, there not been a significant change (p=0.100) for females reporting getting sunburnt at least once over the previous summer (1999: 77.6%; 2017: 72.9%).
