Medical
Occupation Apparatus Prerequisites
Bone Mineral Density Operators Dual Energy X-Ray Absorptiometry (DEXA)Apparatus
  • Training, knowledge and or experience in radiation safety with respect to bone mineral density apparatus.
Chiropractors Chiropractic General X-Ray Unit
  • Must be registered as a Chiropractor with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
  • Training, knowledge and or experience in the safe use of x-ray apparatus for the chiropractic examinations.
Dermatologists Superficial/Orthovoltage Radiotherapy X-Ray Unit
  • Must be registered as a medical practitioner with a specialty in dermatology with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
  • Training, knowledge and or experience in the safe use of Superficial/Orthovoltage x-ray unit.
Nuclear Medicine Specialists Unsealed Radioactive Material used in Nuclear Medicine
  • Must be registered as a specialist nuclear medicine physician with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
  • Must have successfully undertaken Advanced Training in Nuclear Medicine as overseen by the Joint Specialist Advisory Committee in Nuclear Medicine (JSAC).
Nuclear Medicine Specialist/Radioligists Unsealed Radioactive Material used in Nuclear Medicine

 

Medical Diagnostic Imaging Units
  • Must be registered as a medical practitioner with a specialty in radiology with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
  • Must have successfully undertaken Advanced Training in Nuclear Medicine as overseen by the Joint Specialist Advisory Committee in Nuclear Medicine (JSAC).
Nuclear Medicine Technologists Unsealed Radioactive Material used in Nuclear Medicine
  • Must be registered as a nuclear medicine technologist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
Computed Tomography (CT) Scanner used for nuclear medicine technology (inc. SPECT/CT PET).
  • Must be registered as a nuclear medicine technologist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
  • Training, knowledge and or experience in the use of diagnostic CT for nuclear medicine.
Computed Tomography (CT)
Scanner used for diagnostic radiography
and nuclear medicine technology.
  • Must be registered as a nuclear medicine technologist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
  • Training, knowledge and or experience in the use of diagnostic CT.
Ophthalmologists Ophthalmic Strontium 90 Applicator
  • Must be registered as a medical practitioner with a specialty in ophthalmology with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
  • Training, knowledge and or experience in the safe use of Sr-90 applicators.
Pathologists Blood Irradiator
  • Must have successfully completed in-house training in the use of blood irradiation equipment.
Radiation Oncologists Medical Therapeutic Radiation Sources
  • Must be registered as a medical practitioner with a specialty in radiation oncology with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
Radiation Therapists Medical Therapeutic Radiation Sources
  • Must be registered as a radiation therapist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
Radiographers Medical Diagnostic Imaging Units
  • Must be registered as a as a diagnostic radiographer with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
Radiologists Medical Diagnostic Imaging Units
  • Must be registered as a medical practitioner with a specialty in radiology with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
Medical Specialists (inc Cardiologist, Vascular Surgeon, Orthopaedic Surgeon, Urologist) Medical Fluoroscopic X-Ray Unit
  • Must be registered as a medical specialist with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
  • Training, knowledge and or experience in radiation safety with respect to fluoroscopic X-ray equipment.

General Dental X-Ray Sources (Including Intra-Oral X-Ray Units, Panoramic X-Ray Units And Cephalometric X-Ray Units)
  • Must be registered as a dental practitioner with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
Specialist Dental X-Ray Sources (Including Dental 3D Volumetric or CBCT X-Ray Units)
  • Must be registered as a dental practitioner with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
  • Training, knowledge and or experience in radiation safety with respect to dental 3D volumetric X-ray apparatus.
Dental Assistants

 

Dental Nurses
General Dental X-Ray Sources (Including Intra-Oral X-Ray Units, Panoramic X-Ray Units and Cephalometric X-Ray Units)
  • Training, knowledge and or experience in dental assisting such as Certificate IV in Dental Assisting – Radiography (HLT43007).
Veterinary
Occupation Apparatus Prerequisites
Veterinary Nurses Veterinary General X-Ray Unit
  • Must have successfully completed a Certificate IV course in Veterinary Nursing.
Veterinary Surgeons General Veterinary X-Ray Apparatus
  • Must be currently registered with the Veterinary Practitioners Board of the ACT.
Specialist Veterinary X-Ray Apparatus (Including Fluoroscopic Apparatus And Computed Tomography)
  • Must be currently registered with the Veterinary Practitioners Board of the ACT.
  • Training, knowledge and or experience in radiation safety with respect to fluoroscopic and/or computed tomography X-ray equipment.
Unsealed Radioactive Material Used In Veterinary Nuclear Medicine
  • Must be currently registered with the Veterinary Practitioners Board of the ACT.
  • Training, knowledge and or experience in radiation safety with respect to unsealed radioactive material.
Other

  • Training, knowledge and or experience in radiation safety with respect to portable nuclear moisture/density gauges.
