An ACT Government Website

Fresh Tastes supports ACT primary schools to make healthy food and drinks a bigger part of everyday life for Canberra’s kids.

Children who have a healthy diet are better placed to learn, participate, attend school and carry healthy eating habits into adulthood.

Benefits

From 2014 to 2021, 87% of ACT primary schools participated in Fresh Tastes - reaching around 42,000 students.

Fresh Tastes:

  • improved the food and drink culture of participating schools
  • increased demand and positive attitudes for healthy foods and drinks within schools
  • increased opportunities for teachers to undertake high quality professional learning
  • helped schools embed nutrition education
  • was a successful model, contributing to sustainable outcomes in schools.
