About Fresh Tastes
Fresh Tastes supports ACT primary schools to make healthy food and drinks a bigger part of everyday life for Canberra’s kids.
Children who have a healthy diet are better placed to learn, participate, attend school and carry healthy eating habits into adulthood.
Benefits
From 2014 to 2021, 87% of ACT primary schools participated in Fresh Tastes - reaching around 42,000 students.
Fresh Tastes:
- improved the food and drink culture of participating schools
- increased demand and positive attitudes for healthy foods and drinks within schools
- increased opportunities for teachers to undertake high quality professional learning
- helped schools embed nutrition education
- was a successful model, contributing to sustainable outcomes in schools.
