Paediatrics, Obstetrics and Gynaecology

The Obstetrics and Gynaecology Department at the Canberra Hospital provides antenatal care, postnatal assessment and inpatient and outpatient gynaecological management.

This rotation gives you access education sessions, audit meetings, journal clubs, daily theatre lists and extensive research opportunities.

Paediatrics at the Canberra Hospital offers paediatric medicine and paediatric surgery rotations. These rotations offer inpatient and outpatient care for paediatric patients in the ACT and surrounding regions.

Each rotation also offers grand rounds, clinical meetings, journal clubs, tutorials and extensive research opportunities.

Paediatric Medicine
  • exposure to general paediatrics as well as sub-speciality area
  • full time paediatrician in the Emergency Department for exposure to a wide range of emergency paediatric conditions
  • follow up and management of neonatal patients
  • experience in paediatric venepuncture/cannulation, suprapubic bladder aspiration and paediatric lumbar puncture
Paediatric Surgery
  • experience in paediatric venepuncture, cannulation and suprapubic catheter
  • opportunity to participate in surgical audits and other quality assurance activities
