The ACT Health Vacation Study Program offers health and medical students at the end of 2nd, 3rd and 4th year the opportunity to gain experience in conducting research through a 6-week placement at Canberra Health Services or ACT Health.

2024-25 ACT Health Vacation Study Program

Project submissions will soon open from potential supervisors for the 2024-25 ACT Health Vacation Study Program.

The program aims to build the capacity of people within the ACT to undertake high-value research, in line with our commitments within Better Together: A Strategic Plan for Research in the ACT Health System.

We are calling for project proposals from potential supervisors relevant to students studying in one of following disciplines:

  • medicine
  • medical science
  • nursing and midwifery
  • allied health
  • health economics
  • epidemiology
  • biostatistics
  • population health.

We encourage projects with a focus on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health research.

At least one supervisor on each project must be from ACT Health or Canberra Health Services.

Key dates for 2024-25 program

  • call for projects open July 2024
  • student applications open in August 2024
  • students notified of outcome in September 2024
  • placements are any 6-week period between November 2024 and February 2025
  • final reporting in February 2025
