Clare Holland House to transition to Canberra Health Services

The operation of Clare Holland House will transition to Canberra Health Services from 3 July by mutual agreement with Calvary Health Care.

Calvary and the ACT Government have mutually agreed the future of Clare Holland House and access to public palliative care services in the Territory is best supported by remaining directly connected with the North Canberra Hospital. This decision ensures continuity of care for patients needing public palliative care services and provides certainty for staff.

Services provided by Clare Holland House, including Home Based Palliative Care will continue with no changes. Canberra Health Services aims to complete the transition with minimal disruption. Patients at Clare Holland House will continue to receive services as planned, unless contacted directly.

The ACT Government and Calvary will continue to work closely together to ensure a safe and smooth transition of operations from Monday 3 July.

The decision to transfer ownership of the facility follows the earlier passing of the Health Infrastructure Enabling Act 2023, which will see Calvary Public Hospital Bruce transfer management to Canberra Health Services on 3 July.
