The Research Working Group provides expert advice and recommendations to the ACT Health and Wellbeing Partnership Board in relation to structural and organisational issues related to health research across the ACT, including advising on research priorities and strategies.
The Research Working Group is chaired by Professor Graham Mann, Director, John Curtin School of Medical Research, Australian National University. See the terms of reference for the Research Working Group for more information.
Expressions of interest are now being sought from suitably qualified and experienced candidates, especially those who bring with them a skill set addressing a gap in the group’s collective strengths. To request a list of current Research Working Group members (including an overview of expertise), please email ResearchWorkingGroup@act.gov.au.
Expressions of interest should be submitted to the ACT Health and Wellbeing Partnership Board Secretariat at ACTHWPartnershipBoard@act.gov.au by no later than close of business 12 December 2022.

ACT Health and Wellbeing Partnership Board Working Groups
The ACT Health and Wellbeing Partnership Board has agreed to the establishment of two working groups:
- Research Working Group
- Workforce Education and Training Working Group
The Research Working Group will provide expert advice and recommendations to the Partnership Board in relation to structural and organisational issues related to health research across the ACT, including advising on research priorities and strategies.
The Workforce Education and Training Group will consider and advise on the best way to integrate efforts across the ACT’s tertiary education sector that results in improvements to effectiveness of health services for the Canberra community and communities in surrounding regions of NSW, and to facilitate in creating a culture of simultaneous learning and teaching.
Each working group will comprise a Chair and up to six members selected by the Chair from a range of professions.

Appointment of Chairs to Working Groups
The ACT Health and Wellbeing Partnership Board is delighted to appoint Dr Jane Frost as Chair of the Workforce Education and Training Working Group and Professor Graham Mann as the interim Chair of the Research Working Group.
Professor Graham Mann
Professor Mann is the Director of the John Curtin School of Medical Research, Australian National University and a principal investigator at Melanoma Institute Australia, University of Sydney. He brings a depth of experience, with over 25 years as a distinguished researcher. Professor Mann co-leads a highly translational research program on melanoma supported by National Health and Medical Research Council Program and Centre for Research Excellence grants. This program is engaged in all aspects of melanoma control, from the genetics of melanoma risk and its environmental and psychological aspects, to the use of molecular markers and targets to improve the diagnosis and treatment of melanoma.
Professor Mann co-leads the Australian Melanoma Genome Project and is a member of the Scientific Steering Committee of the International Cancer Genome Consortium. He holds grants worth more than $23 million over the last five years and his 240 primary research papers have been cited more than 13,000 times. In 2017, Professor Mann was awarded a NSW Premier’s Award for Excellence in Translational Cancer Research.
The Research Working Group has been established under the ACT Health and Wellbeing Partnership Board to drive research priorities and projects across the ACT health system and deliver improvements in the conduct and translation of health research for the benefit of the community.
Professor Mann will bring a broad view and extensive understanding of health research, from prevention through to curative services. As a proven collaborator who engages across the sector, he will provide invaluable leadership and direction to the Research Working Group in driving its strategic objectives.
Associate Professor Jane Frost
Dr Frost is the Associate Professor in Nursing and Program Director, School of Nursing and Midwifery and Public Health at the University of Canberra. Dr Frost is an experienced educator, endorsed Nurse Practitioner, Nurse academic and TEDx speaker. She was awarded the first doctorate of Nurse Practitioner in Australia. Dr Frost is passionate about interprofessional learning and is an active member of an interprofessional research team. She currently leads research into interprofessional learning for health students using simulation, stroke simulation, mixed reality technologies and simulation.
Dr Frost is committed to education and training. In 2019 she became a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and has been nominated for an Australian Award for University Teaching citation.
The Workforce Education and Training Working Group has been established under the ACT Health and Wellbeing Partnership Board to provide advice and recommendations for integrated effort across the ACT’s tertiary education sector to improve the effectiveness of health services and facilitate a culture of ongoing learning and teaching. As a proven innovator in the health workforce space, Dr Frost will make an invaluable contribution to the Working Group.
