The Alcohol and Drug Consultation and Liaison Service is a team of dedicated doctors and nurses who provide services to people presenting to Canberra Hospital Emergency Department or admitted to Canberra Hospital with alcohol and other drug issues.
About this service
Our Consultation and Liaison Service provides assessment, support and referral for you if you have been admitted to Canberra Hospital and require assistance with alcohol and/or other drug issues while you are an inpatient
We work in collaboration with your treating team including your doctors, nurses, and other staff at Canberra Hospital to assist you on your recovery.
Our Services Include:
- Comorbidity Service for people with mental health and alcohol and drug concerns.
- IMPACT Program/PEP (Pregnancy Enhancement Program)
- Health promotion and harm minimisation education
- Alcohol and other Drug Withdrawal Management
- Staff Specialist advice
- Referral for ongoing care
- Information and referral for family members and carers.

We care for people referred by medical treating teams in Canberra Hospital.
How to access this service
Your medical team will organise for you to access our service. You cannot refer yourself to this service.
What to expect
Once your treating team contacts us, one of our team members will be in contact with you to discuss your concerns and explore options. This will include a brief assessment to ensure we can provide the most appropriate service to you.
