This six week Parenting Group is for parents and carers who have a loved one under the age of 18 with an eating disorder or disordered eating behaviour.

About this service

We provide education, information and support in implementing the first phase of Maudsley family-based therapy approach. You can find out more about family-based therapy on the Centre for Clinical Interventions website.

Who we care for

This service is available to families/carers who:

  • live in the ACT
  • care for a loved one under the age of 18 with an eating disorder or disordered eating behaviour, and
  • have been referred to this service by the Clinical Hub.

The Parenting Group is a voluntary service. We are not a medical or crisis service. If you are in crisis, please call Access Mental Health.

How to access this service

To refer yourself or someone else to the Parenting Group, please contact the Eating Disorders Clinical Hub.

What to expect

The Parenting Group provides education, information and support in implementing the first phase of Maudsley family-based therapy approach.

This is a closed group format that will run over 6 weeks with a total of 10 participants in any group.

What to bring

  • Medicare card
  • Any letters or correspondence from your GP.

Where we’re located

The Parenting Group operates out of Phillip Community Health Centre.

All referrals should be sent to the Eating Disorders Clinical Hub.
