Our Children’s Hearing Service provides a full hearing assessment for children aged 18 months to 18 years.

About this service

The assessment includes:

  • taking your child’s hearing health history
  • checking their ear canals and ear drums
  • measuring their middle ear function
  • measuring their hearing levels.

Who we care for

We see children between the ages of 18 months and 18 years.

We offer these services free for Medicare and Asylum Seeker Card holders. If you do not have these cards there may be a charge for the service.

How to access this service

You, your GP, a Maternal and Child Health (MACH) Nurse, speech pathologist or child’s school can make a referral to the Children’s Hearing Service.

To book an appointment or make a referral, contact Central Health Intake on (02) 5124 9977.

You can book and reschedule through MyDHR. There is more information about MyDHR, including proxy access (when a patient gives another person access to their MyDHR account) on the ACT Health website.

What to expect

You will receive a letter to confirm your appointment time.

When you arrive at Belconnen Community Health Centre please check in at reception on Level 1.

You will be able to stay with your child throughout the hearing test.

What to bring to your appointment

  • Medicare card
  • Health Care Card and/or concession card (if you have one)
  • Your child’s personal health record (Blue Book)

The Children’s Hearing Service is located on Level 2, Belconnen Community Health Centre.
