Our registered nurses conduct Kindergarten Health Checks in all ACT primary schools.
An information pack is sent home from your child’s school at the beginning of the year to obtain your consent and explain what the checks involve.
The health check includes vision, hearing, height, weight and development. It should not replace your child’s normal healthcare.
You are offered an appointment at a ‘catch-up clinic’ if your child is absent on the day of the health checks. These clinics are held regularly on Wednesday mornings during the school term. You or a nominated carer must attend this clinic with your child.
Our nurses can provide information or a referral letter to the appropriate specialist service for any issues identified through the checks.
