Women’s Health Services

The Women’s Health Service offers free nursing, medical, nutrition and counselling services to vulnerable women in the ACT and region.

Well Women’s Clinic and Specialised Medical Services

Receive a full health check, including health history, basic physical examination, routine screening, cervical screening and lifestyle advice.

You can also speak to a nurse practitioner or doctor for short term care, while receiving help to find your own GP.

Nutrition

Speak to a dietitian about nutrition related issues, including general nutrition, food allergies or intolerances, gut issues and developing a healthier relationship with food. This service is available every second Thursday.

Counselling and Health Promotion

Short, medium and long-term counselling on a range of issues is available.

We also promote women’s health issues to community agencies and give training to health professionals and community agencies on working with women affected by domestic violence.

Criteria for service

We help women who find it difficult to access health services due to:

  • violence, abuse or neglect
  • identifying as being of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander origin
  • language or cultural barriers
  • homelessness or risk of homelessness
  • substance abuse issues
  • mental health issues
  • disability
