Organ and Tissue Donation

DonateLife ACT is responsible for the coordination of organ and tissue donation in the ACT.

Organ donation is very rare; not everyone can become an organ donor. Only 1-2% of people who die in hospital are suitable to donate organs for transplantation.  Many more people, however, can be tissue donors.

One organ and tissue donor can save and transform the lives of many people.

For more information about organ and tissue donation please visit the DonateLife website. If you would like us to come and talk to your organisation, please contact us.

Register your donation decision

Join the Australian Organ Donor Register today!

By deciding to become an organ and tissue donor, you could save someone’s life. It is important to discuss your donation decision with your loved ones. This is so they are aware of your wishes. Around 1,700 Australians are currently waitlisted for a transplant. A further 12,000 are on dialysis, many of whom would benefit from a kidney transplant.
